I Had You at that Kiss

Photo by Serge Gugelmann on Unsplash

Backdropped by a blushing icy-blue sunset

In the cold atop the hill

You put your hand on my shoulder

And turned me to you

I felt your restrained need

The desperation in your breath

Hesitant to say the words

But needing to act out the feelings somehow

And in the silence you revealed them

With the touch of your lips

The prickle of your whiskers

And I knew I had you

Because you kissed me, when you didn’t have to
